About Colin

Chosen by the 49ers Jim Harbaugh with the 36th pick in the 2011 draft out of Nevada Colin also starred as a pitcher on the baseball team.

Alex Smith was the current 49er Quarterback and had been the savior of the franchise. Unfortunately, he had concussions as well and in 2012 had his season cut short by yet another one. Colin Kaepernick proceeded to finish the 2012 season 5-2. That post-season his QB rating was a very high 94.7.

His taking a knee during the 2016 season was a surreal prescient depiction in virtually the same sickening-feeling kneeling position brazenly taken by Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin, who that day for whatever reason was choosing to be the Grim Reaper and second by second dripping the life out of George Floyd, a black family man for eight minutes and 46 seconds.

We Don’t Do It Like That Anymore!

The meaning of Colin’s kneeling is why we at ZIPJEWEL chose to create the #7 ZIPJEWEL Medal. It’s like seeing back 4 years and remembering how the injustices were continuing to get worse until that sad day in Minneapolis; that sport is now a voice in social injustice. We honor you George Floyd and we honor you Colin Kaepernick.
